Which Films Are Better Than Their Source Materials?

Image

The Guardian asks its readers to list films that they consider better than the adapted source material. Among the most  praised choices are Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange and Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. If anything, their readers’ selections only seem to confirm that the original books trump their films. With adaptations of On the Road and Anna Karenina about to be released in theaters near you, maybe it’s time to revisit the classics.
